Highlights from Friday, 14 June 2013
On Friday morning, SBSTA 38 held its closing plenary and considered outcomes on issues, including REDD+, agriculture, Nairobi Work Programme, methodological issues, and research and systematic observation. Closing the session, SBSTA Chair Richard Muyungi (Tanzania) emphasized that parties' hard work had led to a successful outcome. He gavelled the meeting to a close at 2:04 pm.
On Friday afternoon, SBI 38 closing plenary took place with parties and observers making closing statements. SBI Chair Thomasz Chruszczow (Poland) thanked delegates for their "constructive, positive, and forward looking statements." He noted that, although consensus could not be reached on the SBI agenda, judging by what had been said, he expressed hope that parties "will come to Warsaw with a new spirit of compromise, trust, openness and understanding." He closed the meeting at 4:20 pm.
