Highlights for Tuesday, 04 November 2008
On Tuesday, the forty-fourth session of the International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC) entered its second day of discussion in Yokohama, Japan. The Council met in the morning to discuss: preparations for entry into force of the ITTA, 2006; the report of the Informal Advisory Group (IAG); and the final draft of the ITTO/IUCN Guidelines for the Conservation of Biodiversity in Tropical Timber Production Forests. The Council also decided to form a contact group to discuss a draft decision on Thematic Programmes.
In the afternoon, participants convened in a Joint Committee Session to discuss ex-post evaluations. This was followed by concurrent sessions of the Committees on Economic Information and Market Intelligence; the Committee on Forest Industry; and the Committee on Reforestation and Forest Management. In the evening, the Committee on Finance and Administration met to discuss: the administrative budget for 2009; contributions to administrative budgets; and the current status of the administrative account.
