The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) continued to work intensively on Thursday, convening in formal plenary sessions, a contact group, and informal huddles as delegates sought to complete several agenda items.
In addition to continuing deliberations on the Strategic Planning Schedule for the Seventh Assessment Cycle, the Panel discussed the draft outline for the Special Report on Climate Change and Cities. Delegates also heard progress reports from the Task Group on Data Support for Climate Change Assessments, the Gender Action Team, the IPCC Chair and Vice-Chairs, the IPCC Secretariat, and on the IPCC’s communications and outreach. Finally, the plenary heard a report from UN-Habitat on the Innovate4Cities Conference held in 2021, intended to catalyze engagement between scientists and practitioners to inform the Special Report on Cities and Climate Change.
The Panel will convene for the final day of IPCC-61 on Friday.
As IPCC sessions are closed, ENB publishes pictures and brief highlights while the meetings are in progress. Our full summary and analysis of each IPCC meeting will be published after its conclusion.
