The second segment of the Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum (GMGSF) to the resumed fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5.2) took place from 7-10 February 2022.
This virtual Forum was self-organized by the Major Group Facilitating Committee, the European Environmental Bureau, and Women Engage for a Common Future. The discussions prepared inputs to UNEA-5.2 and the Special Session to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the creation of the UN Environment Programme in 1972 (UNEP@50). The back-to-back meetings convened from 28 February – 4 March 2022.
GMGSF was organized around seven thematic clusters that are aligned to UNEA-5.2 draft decisions on: marine and plastic pollution; nature-based solutions; chemicals; green recovery; the UNEP We Want/UNEP @50; Stockholm+50; and environmental governance.
