The 22nd meeting of the Plants Committee (PC22) of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) convened for its penultimate day in Tbilisi, Georgia on 22 October 2015. During the morning, participants convened in plenary to discuss: guidance on making NDFs for perennial plants; exports and imports of CITES timber subject to national decisions; amendment proposals for Sclerocactus spp. (fishhook cactus); Pterocarpus erinaceus (vène or palissandre of Senegal); Beaucarnea recurvata (elephant’s foot or ponytail palm); agarwood-producing taxa; and the collaborative programme between the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) and CITES.
In the afternoon, participants reconvened in plenary. There they addressed a number of issues, including: amendment proposals for Dalbergia cochinchinensis (Thailand rosewood); risk assessment for tree species of the genus Dalbergia in Mexico; production systems for specimens; Osyris lanceolata (East African sandalwood); the report for the working group on annotations for Appendix II orchids; and executive summaries for the first two days of the meeting.
