ENERGYNOW SDG7 Action Forum 2024
In close to 20 sessions, ministers and stakeholders held a variety of discussions on incentivizing action toward realizing SDG7 in line with net-zero goals. Among other issues, sessions focused on ensuring Africa's critical mineral resources benefit Africans, gender equity in the energy transition, and how energy could be addressed in a post-2030 agenda.

Energy leaders discussed challenges and opportunities related to the energy transition and took stock of progress on the over 185 voluntary Energy Compact commitments that were announced during the UN High-level Dialogue on Energy.
Transforming Commitments into Action: Delivering on the Outcomes of the High-Level Dialogue on Energy
The launch of the UN-Energy Plan of Action and the Energy Compact Action Network aimed to build on the 200 voluntary commitments made by countries, organizations, and businesses in September at the UN High-level Dialogue on Energy.
High-level Dialogue on Energy
The first high-level meeting to tackle energy issues under the United Nations General Assembly in 40 years demonstrated broad interest in accelerating ambition towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7) on affordable and clean energy and the net-zero emissions by 2050 goal of the Paris Agreement on climate change.
Energy Action Days
Immediately prior to the High-level Dialogue on Energy (HLDE), Energy Action Days brought together representatives of business, foundations, cities, youth and other segments of civil society to announce “Energy Compact” commitments.
High-level Dialogue on Energy Ministerial Thematic Forums (HLDE 2021)
The Ministerial Thematic Forums for the HLDE launched reports prepared by Technical Working Groups, each with detailed recommendations for action needed, on five thematic topics also explored during the week by multi-stakeholder dialogues and ministerial sessions
High-Level Dialogue on Energy Technical Working Groups
Actors from UN and international agencies, national governments, and business, academic, and civil society organizations came together to provide input on five themes (energy access; energy transition; enabling SDGs through inclusive, just energy transitions; innovation, technology and data; and finance and investment) to inform the upcoming High-level Dialogue on Energy that will be held under the auspices of the UN General Assembly.
