The UN High-level Dialogue on Energy was a summit-level UN General Assembly event in September 2021. The Dialogue focused on ways to substantially advance the transition to clean, affordable energy for all by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050, and resulted in a Global Roadmap for Accelerated SDG 7 Action, containing recommendations on five thematic areas and milestones for 2025 and 2030.
To develop the recommendations, five technical working groups met in early 2021 and presented their recommendations during ministerial forums in June 2021.
Among the calls in the roadmap, the UN System is to strengthen its efforts on SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy for all) and the net-zero emissions commitment in the Paris Agreement on climate change, including by establishing a multi-stakeholder Energy Compact Action Network.
