Negotiations Bog Down at UNFF8

On Wednesday, 29 April, delegates to the eighth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF8) met throughout the day in two groups: Working Group I discussed forests in a changing environment; and a contact group addressed financing for sustainable forest management (SFM). The contact group reconvened in the evening.

Wednesday, 29 April
Working Group I: Forests in a Changing Environment
Working Group I continued negotiations on a draft resolution on forests in a changing environment, enhanced cooperation and regional and subregional processes.

Rosalie McConnell, FAO.	African Group delegates Baya Bensmail, Algeria, and Suhayfa Zia, South Africa, discussed the text.
EU delegates conferred during the afternoon session.		Chinese delegates conferred during a break.
Contact Group: Financing for SFM
The contact group continued negotiations on the Co-Chairs' text on financing for SFM.
Delegates continued their negotiations in a smaller room in the evening.
Side Event
The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) organized a side event on its cooperation with UNFF.
