On Wednesday morning, 28 January, delegates met in Plenary to
hear statements by Ministers and Heads of Delegation, observer States and membets
of Organizations. In the morning and afternoon, delegates engaged in panel discussions
on building capacity for more effective application of science and technology
in SIDS, and on strategies for overcoming risk, uncertainty and vulnerability
in SIDS. Delegates then concluded with a wrap-up session on the panel discussions.
The drafting group met throughout the day to continue its work on the draft Strategy
for the Further Implementation of the BPOA.

jointly organized through a partnership between the Smithsonian Institution and
UNDP soon after the World Summit on Sustainable Development. The
Institute@ ... is
committed to translating sustainable development policies into practice. By providing
practical, high quality training to participants of key UN and other international
meetings and supporting course participants long-term through its website, The
Institute@ ... raises the capacity of individuals and, ultimately,
society to change things for the better. The first collaborative programme was
held at CSD-11 (The Institute@CSD-11)
