The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) continued working intensively on Thursday, focusing largely on planning the Programme of Work for its seventh assessment cycle. Delegates have been considering the advantages and disadvantages of a range of options for the structure of their work, subjects they may wish to focus on, and timelines for potential outputs.

The IPCC also turned to other essential business, including hearing:

  • progress reports from Working Groups I, II and III and the Task Force on Inventories;
  • a report from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC); and
  • a report from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

With only one day remaining in the session, the Panel worked late into the evening.
