Thirteenth Session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC 13) of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)

The thirteenth Session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC 13) of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) will convene in Bonn, Germany, from 25-27 March 2015. The meeting will take place at the World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB) in the Wasserwerk and Pumpenhaus buildings. It will be immediately preceded by regional meetings, from 23-24 March 2015, also taking place in Bonn. The Conference of the Parties (COP) decided, in decision 11/COP.9, annex, paragraph 14, that CRIC sessions held between ordinary sessions of the COP should focus on the review of the implementation of the Convention by Parties with a view to submitting a report to the COP with recommendations on further steps to be taken to facilitate effective implementation of the Convention. With this objective in mind, CRIC 13 is expected to assess the implementation of the Convention in relation to: advocacy, awareness-raising and education; policy frameworks; science, technology and knowledge; capacity-building; and financing and technology transfer. The CRIC will also review financial support for the implementation of the Convention, and consider the formulation, revision and implementation of action programmes in view of the post- 2015 sustainable development framework.
