Consultation Closes in Geneva
The third and final day of the European Regional Consultation of the Consultative Process Towards an IMoSEB continued on Saturday, 28 April 2007, with participants discussing outcomes from the three working groups that convened Friday. When the meeting closed at 12:20 pm, there was general consensus on a list of “needs” for an IMoSEB, which were initially identified by working group one. There was also consensus on an option for an IMoSEB to meet these needs, which had initially been developed by working group two. Finally, most participants agreed to the findings of working group three on the goals and guiding principles for effective communication of scientific information on biodiversity. These outcomes, along with the discussions that took place over the three days, will be reflected in the meeting report, which will likely contribute to future consultations on a possible IMoSEB.
