Convening under the theme “Their Future is Our Future – Sustainable Development for Wildlife & People,” the twelfth session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS COP12) will meet in Manila, the Philippines from 23-28 October 2017. It will be preceded by a high-level panel on 22 October 2017.

COP12 is expected to underscore that migratory species provide vital services to satisfy people’s everyday needs, including as a source of food and medicine, and as pollinators and seed dispersers. It will also address, among others: strategic and institutional matters, including the future shape and strategies of CMS; interpretation and implementation of the Convention, including review of decisions; administrative and budgetary matters, including resource mobilization; and reports, including the report and recommendations of the subsidiary bodies of the Convention.

IISD Reporting Services, through its Earth Negotiations Bulletin (ENB) Meeting Coverage, has provided daily web coverage, daily reports, and a summary and analysis report from the CMS COP12. The summary and analysis report is now available in HTML and PDF.
