Expert meeting on methodologies for technology needs assessments Seoul, Republic of Korea | 23 - 25 April 2002 Summary Report | Our summary report is now available in the following formats: The Expert Meeting on Methodologies for Technology Needs Assessments was held from 23-25 April 2002, at the office of the Korea Energy Management Corporation (KEMCO) in Yongin, Republic of Korea. The meeting was organized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea. Approximately 60 representatives of governments, United Nations agencies and other intergovernmental and international organizations attended the meeting. The objective of the Expert Meeting was to identify and provide technical advice on the methodologies and tools needed to undertake technology needs assessments. During the workshop, participants met in plenary sessions to: hear an overview of the issue and country case studies; identify the elements of needs assessments; consider activities and initiatives on technology transfer; and examine possible post-needs assessment activities. Participants also convened in working groups to develop recommendations on methodologies and tools for assessing technology needs, as well as on the types of assistance required to carry out such assessments. The findings of the workshop will be reported by the Chair of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) to the SBSTA at its sixteenth session in June 2002. Briefing
