CGRFA-11 HIGHLIGHTS On Tuesday, delegates to CGRFA-11 continued their deliberation of substantive agenda items. In light of the large number of issues to be addressed, delegates convened in plenary sessions in the morning and evening, and in two parallel sessions in the afternoon. Additionally, a number of side events were held during the lunch break and delegates met in regional groupings throughout the day. Regarding the agenda item on the programme of work for AnGR, delegates continued discussion of the draft Strategic Priorities for Action for the Sustainable Use, Development and Conservation of Animal Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. Under the guidance of Chair Visser in the morning and evening, and ITWG-AnGR Chair Blackburn in the afternoon, delegates worked through the draft text section by section. Delegates considered both the introductory text to the four Strategic Priority Areas, as well as the text of the 23 Strategic Priorities themselves, each of which includes a "rationale" section and a list of possible actions to be undertaken under that priority. During the evening session, delegates also addressed: implementation and financing of the Global Plan of Action for AnGR; the Global Strategy for the Management of Farm AnGR; and the draft Interlaken Declaration on AnGR. In a parallel afternoon session, delegates began consideration of the programme of work on plant genetic resources (PGR), discussing: the report of the third session of the ITWG-PGR; follow-up to the recommendations of the Commission regarding PGR; and progress in the preparation of the second report on the State of the World's Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture.
