ALGERIA:

Rabah Hadid, the Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, stated that the success of the CSD depends on factors such as: the initiation of a genuine North-South partnership; new and additional financial resources for the South; and availability and accessibility of environmentally sound technology. He shared the concerns of other delegations that poverty and consumption should be given urgent and in- depth consideration.
