ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA:

Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Industry Rodney Williams said the special problems of small island states must be discussed in international fora. Measures taken to address global environmental degradation must be on a local and regional basis. He welcomed the role of NGOs, women and other major groups in the achievement of sustainable development. He reiterated that the problems of his country require active support from all levels and he urged the international community to support the various processes that will culminate in the Conference on the Sustainable Development of Small Islands Developing States.
