The side event ‘The Story of Transfrontier Conservation in Southern Africa – Meeting the Aichi Targets by Default’ took place during the the UN Convention on Biological Diversity COP14 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt on 18 November, presented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC). It provided the SADC TFCAs Programme and Network with an opportunity to showcase success stories on conservation and highlight how putting people at the forefront of conservation enables success stories. Key messages and lessons learned from conservation and development in the SADC region were shared at the event, particularly as they will contribute to the Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework.
