The opening plenary was officially opened by President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, and follow up remarks were delivered by Presidents David Granger of Guyana and Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona of Trinidad and Tobago. |

Highlights for Monday, 4 December 2017
The third session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-3) opened on Monday at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON). After adopting the agenda and organization of work, delegates heard opening statements before convening the Committee of the Whole (COW) to review the status of decisions and resolutions to be forwarded to the Assembly for adoption. At a parallel plenary session, country representatives presented national statements. |

Highlights for Friday, 1 December 2017
On the final day of the third meeting of the Open-Ended Committee of Permanent Representatives (OECPR-3), delegates continued negotiations in the five contact groups throughout the day, adding extended sessions into the night. During the evening closing plenary, delegates welcomed the successful conclusion of discussions on the draft ministerial outcome document and agreed to forward the document to UNEA-3 for consideration. Delegates also adopted eight of the 13 draft decisions and resolutions by acclamation and earmarked the remaining five resolutions for informal consultations over the weekend. |

Highlights for Thursday, 30 November 2017
On the second day of OECPR-3, delegates convened in contact groups throughout the day and in the evening. Contact groups discussed three draft decisions on procedural matters, and made progress on a number of substantive resolutions. |

The third meeting of the Open-Ended Committee of Permanent Representatives (OECPR-3) opened in Nairobi on Wednesday morning. Following welcome statements by OECPR Chair John Moreti (Botswana) and UN Environment Programme Executive Director Erik Solheim, representatives of regional groups and Member States made opening statements. Delegates then adopted the organization of work and established five contact groups to finalize draft decisions and resolutions that will be forwarded to the third UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-3). In the afternoon, UNEA-3 President Edgar Gutiérrez Espeleta briefed delegates on the status of consultations on the ministerial outcome document. |
