Denise Young
Writer
Denise Young is a Writer with the Earth Negotiations Bulletin. She is based in Paris where she works as an independent consultant, writer, and strategic communications expert specializing in helping international organizations tell their story with impact.
She has worked as a financial journalist, mostly in Asia, for the international news service Thomson Reuters, and more recently as Head of Communications at the International Science Council, which is the co-convenor of the Major Group for Science and Technology in UN environmental processes. In that role, she followed IPCC, IPBES, UNFCCC, Sendai Disaster Risk Reduction, Rio+20 and Agenda 2030 processes through the lens of science advocacy, attending many of the milestone conferences since 2012. She also worked closely with a number of CGIAR centres on developing media campaigns to raise awareness around their work in forestry, food security, and agriculture.
In her spare time, she writes a finance newsletter on net zero called The Zeroist and hosts a podcast that showcases new and emerging themes in the global sustainability agenda.
She has a Master’s in Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, and speaks English, French, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
