Daniel Bertram is a Writer with the Earth Negotiations Bulletin as well as a PhD Candidate in International Law at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. He joined the ENB team in spring 2023. Daniel's expertise covers a range of cross-cutting environmental issues and regulatory mechanisms. Past research has focused on transnational liability regimes, environmental due diligence requirements, the principle of intergenerational justice, and the intersection between environmental and criminal law. His professional experience includes a stint with the German Ministry for Development (BMZ) working on EU development policy as well as lead editing role with the environmental magazine Anthroposphere.
Born and raised in Germany, Daniel holds an LLB in Global Law and a BSc in Public Governance (Tilburg University), an MPhil in Law (University of Oxford), and an LLM in International, European and Comparative Law (European University Institute).
