Roundtable on Oceans

The Norwegian Forum for Environment and Development presented a discussion entitled "Roundtable on Oceans: the Challenges In Front of Us." The meeting was chaired by Jan-Gustav Strandenaes (far left), Managing Director of the NFED.
Arab Hoballah, UNEP, gave a brief introduction of the Mediterranean Regional Seas Programme, of which he is Deputy Director.
Bill Mansfield (left), Speial Advisor to the Honorable Simon Upton (CSD-7 Chairman) on Ocean Issues, emphasized institutional matters and the need for concrete action, not vague theoretical debate, at the CSD. Jane Earl (right), Chief Executive Officer of the Marine Stewardship Council, stressed that the private sector can be a source of solutions and opportunities for ocean management.
