The Bonn Climate Change Conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) continued on Friday, 13 June. The Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) convened in the morning in a contact group to continue discussions on workstream 2 (pre-2020 ambition) and intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs), as well as to address other issues.
On workstream 2, the ADP contact group emphasized the importance of workstream 2 for engendering trust under workstream 1 (2015 agreement) and considered the Thematic Expert Meetings (TEMs), including the ones held in March 2014 on renewable energy and energy efficiency, and the TEMs held during this session on urban environments and land use. On INDCs, the ADP contact group discussed the definition and scope of INDCs, ex ante and/or ex post review or assessment, and the timeline and information required for submission of INDCs. On other issues, the contact group explored the entire cycle of future contributions and commitments under the new agreement, including assessment and review, duration of these cycles and compliance.
The Durban Forum on Capacity Building convened in the afternoon,with participants sharing experiences, best practices and lessons learned regarding the implementation of capacity-building activities in developing countries. A number of informal consultations and contact groups under the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) also took place throughout the day.

The Bonn Climate Change Conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) continued on Thursday, 12 June. The Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) convened in the morning in a contact group to discuss workstream 2 (pre-2020 ambition), and to continue discussions on intended nationally-determined contributions (INDCs). A follow-up session on the Thematic Expert Meetings (TEMs) that took place during the fourth session of the second meeting of the ADP (ADP 2-4) on renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) took place, during which partner organizations presented on actions they have taken since March 2014, and delegates discussed ways to take the work of the TEMs forward.
In the afternoon, a stocktaking plenary assessed progress under the ADP, where delegates, inter alia, addressed how to identify and elaborate elements of the 2015 agreement. During the plenary, briefings were presented on Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and Green Climate Fund (GCF) work relevant to the ADP.
The second part of the In-session Workshop on Long-Term Climate Finance convened in the morning addressing: strategies and approaches for scaled-up climate finance from 2014-2020; cooperation on enhanced enabling environments and support for readiness activities; and needs for support to developing countries.
The first two parts of the 3rd Meeting of the Durban Forum on Capacity Building took place. Throughout the day, participants discussed enhancing and creating enabling environments, building capacity to mitigate, and assessing options for, and implementation of, mitigation measures. A number of informal consultations and contact groups under the SBI and SBSTA also took place.

The Bonn Climate Change Conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) continued on Wednesday, 11 June.
The Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) convened in a contact group throughout the day, and focused on transparency of action and support, and intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs). Transparency discussions addressed differentiation; transparency of action and support; and accounting rules. During INDC discussions, interventions covered: the definition of INDCs; key aspects of INDCs; scope of INDCs; and the process for developing INDCs.
Under ADP workstream 2 (pre-2020 ambition), the Thematic Expert Meeting (TEM) on Land Use took place throughout the day, and focused on: policies, practices and technology; implementing actions, including finance, technology and capacity building; and ways forward.
The third part of the 2nd Dialogue on Article 6 (education, training and public awareness) took place in the morning, and the first part of the In-session Workshop on Long-term Climate Finance convened in the afternoon, addressing the subject of updated strategies and approaches for scaled-up climate finance from 2014-2020.

The Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) convened in a contact group throughout the day, and focused on finance, capacity building and technology. On finance, the contact group addressed: the level of finance; the legal nature of the commitment; finance for adaptation; institutional mechanisms, including the Green Climate Fund (GCF); transparency; and sources of finance.
Under ADP workstream 2 (pre-2020 ambition), the Forum on Experiences and Best Practices of Cities and Municipal Authorities in Relation to Adaptation and Mitigation took place in the morning, while the Thematic Expert Meeting (TEM) on Urban Environments took place in the afternoon and evening. The Forum discussed low-carbon development policies being successfully implemented at the sub-national level, as well as challenges faced by cities and ways the 2015 agreement could engage municipal authorities. The TEM focused on showcasing initiatives, good practices and policy options, as well as on ways to support and scale up feasible policy options to ensure sustainable urban development.
A number of informal consultations and contact groups under the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) also took place.

The Bonn Climate Change Conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) continued on Sunday, 8 June. The Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) convened in a contact group throughout the day for sessions focused on mitigation. Discussions focused on procedural issues, including whether the ADP Co-Chairs intend to break into informal consultations on various elements of the 2015 agreement and on the timing and process of developing draft negotiation text. Substantive interventions addressed the nature and scope of INDCs, including a review process, and how to reflect INDCs in a COP 20 outcome.
The third and fourth parts of the third meeting of the structured expert dialogue (SED) on the 2013-2015 Review took place in the morning and afternoon and the second part of the 2nd Dialogue on Article 6 (education, training and public awareness) of the Convention took place in the morning. The SED discussed the conclusions of the IPCC WGIII report, including on: the adequacy of the global goal, including sectoral and cross-sectoral mitigation and performance of climate policies; overall progress toward the global goal, including trends in stocks and flows of GHGs, mitigation value judgment and equity concepts; and finance issues.
During lunch, the incoming COP presidency hosted open-ended informal consultations on the expectations for COP 20 in Lima, Peru. Parties, observer organizations and civil society outlined their expectations for the COP 20 outcome.
In the morning, open-ended informal consultations on a COP agenda item on decision-making in the UNFCCC process continued, as mandated by COP 19. Numerous informal consultations and contact groups under the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the SBSTA also took place.

The Bonn Climate Change Conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) continued on Saturday, 7 June, in Bonn, Germany. The Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) contact group convened throughout the day, for sessions focused on adaptation.
Discussions in the contact group discussed procedural issues on linkages across elements, scope of intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs) and development of a draft text. On adaptation, the contact group began discussing elements of a possible negotiating text, addressing the Co-Chair's guiding questions on: long-term and collective aspects of adaptation; commitments and contributions; and institutional arrangements, cooperation and coordination.
The second part of the third meeting of the structured expert dialogue (SED), which took place in the morning, discussed the second theme of the 2013-2015 Review, namely the overall progress made toward achieving the long-term global goal, including consideration of commitments under the Convention, highlighting issues such as adaptation needs and costs, and the relationship between mitigation and adaptation. The Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) Research Dialogue convened in the afternoon.
During lunch, the incoming COP presidency outlined logistical arrangements for COP 20, in Lima, Peru, and Venezuela presented on the social pre-COPs taking place in July and November. A number of informal consultations and contact groups under the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and SBSTA also took place. In the morning, open-ended informal consultations on a COP agenda item on decision-making in the UNFCCC process began, as mandated by COP 19, during which parties exchanged views on possible outcomes for these consultations in Lima.

The Bonn Climate Change Conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) convened on Wednesday, 4 June, in Bonn, Germany. Throughout the day, the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) met in plenary, while the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) met in an afternoon session. The SBI and SBSTA adopted their respective agendas and proceeded to open agenda items.
The SBI established contact groups on: the forum and work programme on response measures; the 2013-2015 Review; and arrangements for intergovernmental meetings. Informal consultations will take place on various SBI agenda items.
The SBI agenda item on information contained in non-Annex I national communications was held in abeyance.
The SBSTA established contact groups on: methodological guidance for REDD+; the 2013-2015 Review; agriculture; the forum and work programme on response measures; methodologies for financial reporting by developed countries; implications of the implementation of decisions 2/CMP.7 to 4/CMP.7 and 1/CMP.8; clarification of the text in Section G of the Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol; and the work programme on the revision of the guidelines for the review of the biennial reports and national communications, including national inventory reviews, for developed country parties. Informal consultations will address various other SBSTA agenda items.
In the afternoon, the ADP resumed work of the second session, establishing a contact group to address issues including: adaptation; nationally determined contributions (NDCs); finance, technology and capacity-building (means of implementation); ambition and equity; mitigation; transparency of action and support; other issues related to elements; and pre-2020 ambition. Opening statements were then heard.
