The IPCC opened its 28th session by paying tribute to the late Bert Bolin, founding Chair of the IPCC, who passed away on 30 December 2007.
Delegates addressed the future of the IPCC, including the structure of the Working Groups and the cycle between comprehensive assessments, and heard a presentation on new scenarios for analysis of emissions, climate change, impacts, and response strategies and their relation to the timing of the AR5.
The Panel decided to prepare a Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) and to continue the work of the Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI) and the Task Group on Data and Scenario Support for Impact and Climate Analysis (TGICA).
Discussions will continue on Thursday, 10 April 2008.
