the fifth and final day of INC-8, delegates met in Plenary delegates discussed the report of the meeting as contained
in UNEP/FAO/PIC/INC.8/L.1 and UNEP/FAO/PIC/INC.8/L.1/Add.1. |

The delegates also heard the reports from the Legal Drafting Group presented by Patrick Szell (UK), Working Group on the Discontinuation of the Interim PIC Procedure and Working Group on Conflict of Interest in the ICRC. Closing statements were also heard from Bolivia on behalf of GRULAC and Nigeria on behalf of the AFRICAN GROUP. In conclusion, Chair Rodrigues
(left) thanked delegates for
manner in which they adhered to the stringent and limited timetables. She
also called attention to the fact that the UN and Secretary General Kofi
Annan and the UN recently received the Nobel Peace Prize and said the INC
was in its own, small way was making a contribution to peace. |
