"Primo de Sinatra": a tango serenade and concerns for Frank Sinatra's health greeted passers-by Saturday in Caminito, a brightly painted Buenos Aires street made famous by a tango song of the same name. |
Well, we just couldn't resist the opportunity to do a little of the tourista thing. When the working groups and informal discussions were over we joined those delegates and others from COP-3 checking out a couple of notable attractions in the city. The sights and sound of Caminito and San Telmo are what we brought back to share. (Total Length: 2:57) |
Caminito, the street, the tango, a colorful place (above left); the corner (above right) where the street begins; some of the painted houses along the street (left); and below, one of the many mosaics and other works of art along the Caminito, this one also visible over the singer's shoulder above.
Caminito is in La Boca, whose soccer team was where Maradona began. Throughout the neighborhood, futbol (above) and the Boca Juniors team are the rage (Sunday's score: Boca 2, Santa Fe 0!!); (right) the harbor on the Riachuelo, the waterway that runs along the edge of La Boca.
(By request): more tango photos, this time from the Plaza Dorrego in the San Telmo barrio. |
