Après des négociations tendues, les parties se sont accordées sur un nouvel objectif de financement climatique. Mais beaucoup ont estimé que le montant de 300 milliards de dollars par an était une « insulte ». Si les parties ont adopté des décisions sur les marchés du carbone dans le cadre de l’Accord de Paris, elles sont restées dans l’impasse sur de nombreux autres sujets, notamment celui de la transition énergétique. Working together to realize societies in harmony with nature: Mechanisms and tools to support on-the-ground initiatives

Biodiversity conservation and sustainable use in landscapes and seascapes are central to achieving the broad goals of the 2050 Vision for Biodiversity. The International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) fosters collaboration among governments, Indigenous communities, businesses, and other stakeholders. This event showcased examples of on-the-ground multi-stakeholder collaboration to help realize the vision of living in harmony with nature.

Monitoring Biodiversity within the Territories of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities

Monitoring is essential for effective biodiversity conservation—and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) emphasizes the participation of Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLC) in this monitoring. This event featured the perspectives of Indigenous rights’ advocates, entrepreneurs, academics, and conservation practitioners on community-based monitoring for biodiversity conservation.

Cooperation Day

Highlighting the role of cooperation with different processes, conventions, and multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) for the efficient and effective implementation of the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) goals and targets, Cooperation Day provided a space for stakeholders to gather and showcase their cooperation initiatives that were presented and shared throughout the different thematic days of the COP 16.

High-Level Segment Reception: Accelerating Biodiversity Action

Throughout COP 16, many events and official statements focused on the importance of accelerating action on implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs). On the eve of the last day of COP 16, ministers and leaders from various sectors came together during a high-level reception to hear how the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership (AP) is helping to implement action and to learn about new commitments from countries.

COMDEKS Phase 4 and the Satoyama Initiative: Societies in harmony with nature

The Community Development and Knowledge Management for the Satoyama Initiative (COMDEKS) is a flagship programme of the Satoyama Initiative, which supports conservation and sustainable management of socio-ecological production landscapes and seascapes. During this session, panelists shared examples of successful projects in Turkey, Cambodia, and Colombia. Rissa Edoo, UN Development Programme (UNDP), moderated the event.
